Dallas Cowboys now worth $2.1 billion

Forbes:
The Dallas Cowboys have not been to the Super Bowl in 16 years. But the lack of a title game appearance has done nothing to slow down the money that flows into the arms of Jerry Jones, the oilman who bought the National Football League team and lease to its stadium in 1989 for $150 million. The Cowboys are now worth $2.1 billion, more than any sports team on the planet, save Manchester United.

T. Boone Pickens just stunted on me heavy

Canadian Raper Drake replies to T. Boone Pickens

Raper musician Drake, with over 7 million Twitter followers, tweets: "The first million is the hardest."

T. Boone Pickens, the social plugin guy that he is, replies: "The first billion is a helluva lot harder." Punk. (Ok, so, he didn't actually say "punk" but it sounded like he wanted to).

Drake, with over 7 million more Twitter followers than "T. Booner", shows how quickly he learns, respects and admires the new rules of the financial game and tweets back: "@boonepickens just stunted on me heavy"

So there you have it. Just another example of the economic benefits accruing from NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement): the free flow of goods, services and miscellaneous financial thoughts.

Tony Romo disagrees with Boss Jones

Jerral "Jerry" Wayne Jones (net worth $2 billion), 69, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, on the NFL Network recently:

"Well, my window is getting shorter. Time goes by. I do feel real pressure because we do have players not only in (quarterback) Tony Romo, but (tight end) Jason Witten (and linebacker) DeMarcus Ware, to leave out several that are (also) in the prime of their career. And we need to strike and strike soon with those guys."

"(Coach) Jason Garrett feels exactly the same way about it and understands how urgent it is. Candidly, you're looking through rose-colored glasses if we all don't realize that now is the time to compete on the field."

And, later, quarterback Tony Romo, quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, and his take on Jerry Jones' take:

"It's not closing. I think there's a sense of urgency every year that you play, whether it's your first year in the league or your 22nd. You never know when all that stuff is going to happen, so you just play every year as if it's an urgent day."
Just another urgent day in Dallas, Texas.

Of Texas billionaires, basketball and such

I've got the ball, says Mark Cuban

We don't write about Ross Perot, Jr. here too much. But as readers know, we do post often about that crazy-guy-owner of the one-and-out Dallas Mavericks, Mark Cuban.

Well know it seems as if Ross Perot's previous ownership of the Mavs (pre-Cuban) entitles him to throw spitballs at Mark Cuban. (Mr. Perot has retained a small minority ownership in the Dallas basketball team through his Hillwood Investment Properties III Ltd. company).

Ross is claiming the Dallas NBA team is close to financial insolvency. Cuban is quoted as saying the "Mavs are just fine."

We know the NBA has not been doing well financially as a league in recent years, however we doubt the Dallas Mavericks are on the brink of financial ruin.

We also doubt we will be following this Texas billionaire shoot-out in the near future. But, you can.
